I am an experienced professional dog trainer, I hold a CPDT-KA. I teach all levels of obedience training from basic to advanced in private classes only. I even do a trick training class! My dog, Ginger, earned the title of “Canine Good Citizen.” I teach and have participated in agility courses. My philosophy on dog training is positive reinforcement reward-based training because is the most humane and effective way of training dogs and addressing any unwanted behaviors. Reward-based training does not involve aversive techniques, physical punishment or the assertion of dominance over the dog. For equipment in training I use collars, leashes (4 ft., 6ft and 20 ft.), toys and soft bed. The method of rewards I use love and treats. There are no corrective measures to train any dog. Ninety-eight percent of my students continue with further training. My graduate rate for my students is 100%.
People as well as dogs learn differently, and I accommodate the different ways in which people and dogs learn. I am here to teach you how to train your dog. For example, I will demonstrate a dog training technique and you will then perform this technique on you dog. The communication style is always pleasant and reinforcing. Each student receives the same amount of attention. If there are further questions regarding training techniques, they will be addressed via phone/e-mail.
With the aid of homework, you will learn everything in the curriculum before you graduate with the aid of handouts, homework assignments and contact with me via phone/e-mail. All of my students enjoy and have fun doing the work. In general, the pet parents come in enthusiastically and leave enthusiastic.
Dogs have different personalities and, therefore, learn differently. The course is taught in a general way. If they are having trouble with one technique I always modify to accommodate learning. All dogs are set up for success!
All behavior problems are addressed and corrected.
The meaning of life is to live it. The secret to a happy dog is to help him/her live a fulfilled life. That means he/she actively participates in it. He/she plays, goes places, and does things. Basically, the secret to a happy dog is not much different at all from the secret to a happy person.
